I am a 17 year old guy working on getting my first car. I was thinking possibly a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire, or a 2006 Saturn Ion. I had looked up a few quotes from Progressive and Esurance, and noticed that the semi-annual price was VERY high, way beyond anything my family could afford. I was wondering If anyone knew of a way that I could possibly afford this. Many of the quotes totaled at $800-$1000 per six months. This is outrageously high, and that was just insurance for an adult I had quoted. Adding a teen onto the insurance would be much more expensive. I am currently trying to get a motorcycle license and I'm wondering if there's any insurance company that would insure me. I'm 18, in California and I don't have a drivers license yet. I have passed the written test for a drivers license but haven't been able to schedule a behind the wheel test yet because my family's lack of cars (mom/dad uses them to get to work until ~8). So while I'm waiting for that to happen then I'm might as well try to get a motorcycle permit because we have my dad's old (but not so old) one. Can child support take life insurance that was left to me and it's not my debt?
my fiance passed away he had back child support from a past relationship. He was having his checks garnished but what the state said he should pay made a huge debt in back child support cause they couldn't take that much from his checks. He left me as beneficiary and our daughter a second beneficiary the state of Washington took every thing from us for his back child support are they allowed to do so when the life insurance was left to us and I am NOT responsible for any of his debts.
